Westminster

What does your MP do all day?

The debates your MP has spoken in, the written questions they have put to ministers, the posts and committees they hold or have held, the motions they have sponsored and the shape of their register of interests, straight from Parliament's own records.

  • Debates in Hansard
  • Written questions
  • Posts & committees
  • Register of interests

How this works

Parliament publishes almost everything an MP does in the House as open data. The page finds your seat and its member through the Members API, then reads the member’s biography (government and opposition posts, committee memberships), their Hansard contribution summary, the register of interests, the written questions they have tabled in the past year and the early day motions they have sponsored. Each service is read on its own, so one being down leaves the rest in place. Counts are cached for a few hours; the biography and register for a day. Read the numbers with the role in mind: ministers and whips do not table questions or speak from the back benches, and select committee work happens off the floor.
