Stormont

Who speaks for you at Stormont?

Northern Ireland elects five Members of the Legislative Assembly for each of its 18 constituencies. This page names yours, shows the ministerial, committee and all-party group roles they hold, counts the questions each has put to ministers over the past year and the motions and debates they have tabled, and gives the constituency office, all from the Assembly's own open data.

  • Five MLAs per seat
  • Ministers & committees
  • Questions to ministers
  • Constituency offices

How this works

The postcode gives the Westminster constituency, and in Northern Ireland the Assembly uses the same 18 areas. The page reads the Assembly’s open data service: the list of sitting members and their constituency offices, then for each member their current roles, every question they have tabled (counted over the past year, with the latest shown) and the business they have tabled for the chamber in the same period. Each call is read on its own, so one being down leaves the rest in place. The member list and roles are cached for a day, questions and tabled business for a few hours. Read the numbers with the role in mind: ministers answer questions rather than ask them, and the Speaker and deputies stay out of the question book. Scotland and Wales publish their members through their own websites and are linked from the page when a postcode lands there.
