About

One postcode, every open dataset that touches it.

ukdata pulls together the public data the UK already publishes about your area and shows it live, in one place. Nothing is scraped, modelled or guessed: every panel is a direct read of an official or community open-data API, and each one names its source.

Nothing stored

How it works

Your postcode is turned into a grid reference with postcodes.io, and that point is handed to each data source. Some feeds are called straight from your browser; the ones that block cross-origin requests or rate-limit cloud traffic go through a small server-side relay that caches responses for anywhere between fifteen minutes and a day, depending on how often the upstream data actually changes.

Nothing you type is stored. Recent postcodes and your theme preference live only in your own browser, and the site sets no analytics or advertising cookies.

Coverage and caveats

The four nations publish differently, so not every panel covers every postcode. Flood warnings and the health profile are England-only; crime, food hygiene and the dashboard’s sold-prices panel exclude Scotland (the /prices index covers the UK); the London transport panel is, as the name says, Flood warnings and the health profile are England-only; crime and house prices exclude Scotland; the London transport panel is, as the name says, London. When a source has nothing for your area the panel says so rather than showing a number from somewhere else.

Amenity and NHS service locations come from OpenStreetMap, which is maintained by volunteers and is not an official directory. Treat those lists as a guide and confirm with the provider.

Licensing and attribution

We surface open data under each provider’s licence and credit them as those licences require. The required statements are:

This covers OHID Fingertips, DfT vehicle-licensing statistics, the Environment Agency, the Food Standards Agency, data.police.uk, ONS and Nomis, Companies House, planning.data.gov.uk, the CMA fuel scheme and Ofgem.
