Energy Live
How clean is the power at your postcode?
The carbon intensity of the electricity in your grid region this half hour, what is generating it, how it compares with Great Britain, and the greenest hours coming up.
- Live carbon intensity
- Generation mix
- 48-hour forecast
How this works
Great Britain’s grid is split into 14 distribution regions, and the electricity in each has a different carbon footprint depending on what is generating nearby and what is flowing in. The National Energy System Operator publishes a forecast of that intensity for every region every half hour, two days ahead, through the Carbon Intensity API. Your postcode’s outward code (the first half) places it in a region. Northern Ireland is on the separate all-island grid and is not covered.
